Mavoy Movie Awards 2026 - nominations

 

I’m very excited to reveal the nominations to Mavoy Movie Awards, our film and television awards launched in 2015. Mavoy Music is obviously a music blog, but film is very important part of my life, and with every year, these awards are becoming more distinct and,. I believe, more interesting. This year, I postponed the usual timing (Friday before the Oscars) to make sure I’ll see some long-anticipated films on a big screen. I was right. Both No Other Choice and Resurrection are actually among the most nominated films now, and I’m sure it’s not just recency bias.

For the first time, I’m posting these on both Substack and the website at the same time, while also revealing nominations on Bluesky and Twitter. Results will be published tomorrow.

Since Kleber Mendonça Filho is nominated with his latest film, The Secret Agent, I picked a still from his Pictures Of Ghosts – a documentary about movie theatres – to illustrate the post.
