Mavoy Music 's Top 300 Albums Of 2025

These are our favorite albums of 2025 :) Thank you all for another fantastic year with our website. Despite what some may say, this year has been actually one of our most active and popular. We also changed a domain provider to more reliable, European company. I’m happy to share with you the best 300 albums of the year.

20 LITTLE SIMZ - LOTUS

This album grew on me. At first, I was mostly upset about the feud between SAULT and Simbi, because I loved them working together and I was very disheartened by some of the lyrics on the new album. On the other hand, she is still possibly the best lyricist in the game and it’s not like she’s drastically changed her sound - her trap experiments aren’t as prominent on the new record.

19 YOUNG FATHERS - 28 YEARS LATER

I regret that I didn’t see 28 Years Later in the theater, I feel that it was a great experience. Still, the soundtrack for this film is amazing and it only increased my interested in Young Fathers’ music - their next studio record should land even higher.

18 NIIA - V

I don’t need to add much to what I’ve already said about Niia - I’m satisfied that the artist that I first heard back in 2007 and I know personally more than a decade is still releasing music that I’d mention among the year’s best.

17 ROCHELLE JORDAN - THROUGH THE WALL

Fantastic electronic, dance record from Rochelle Jordan. My favorite club release of the year. I miss Kelela, I hope we’ll hear from her soon, but Rochelle, kinda following in that direction, is also a superb vocalist of her own.

16 GANAVYA - NILAM

While Ganavya doesn’t reach TOP 10 this time around, she was still my favorite concert of the year.

15 LINA - O FADO / TERRA MAE

Some will be surprised, but considering that Lina was already quite high in our EP chart the last year, it’s clear that Portuguese artist is in the great form. O Fado is more of a traditional fado record, while Terra Mae focuses on her songwriting and also features songs in English.

14 MAX RICHTER - HAMNET / SLEEP CIRCLE

Hamnet is one of my most anticipated films right now, and beautiful score by Max Richter - for me, always The Leftovers guy first - is the key reason why. My favourite score album this year.

13 HOPE TALA - HOPE HANDWRITTEN

We’ve waited quite a few years for Hope’s debut record and it didn’t disappoint at all, with reflective lyrics mixed up with catchy hooks. I was super excited to see her performing at Coachella, as well!

12 HEKLA - TURNAR

Hekla is the year-end chart regular since 2018. This year, the theremin player, will be also featured high in our EP chart. It was a great year for this instrument, I also saw Ela Orleans live (and I hope to see Hekla in Poland too!), and of course, it was prominently featured in that weird Severance episode.

11 EMMA-JEAN THACKRAY - WEIRDO

I’m really gutted that I won’t be attending this Friday’s Emma-Jean concert in Warsaw. I feel like it’s mostly because it’s just too close to holidays. But the record is fantastic, I will always remember the evening of electric Bandcamp listening party.

10 JAMES K - FRIEND

Everybody knows I love shoegaze and there’s a plenty of more traditionally-sounding shoegaze records in the chart. But I’m also very interested in the experimental side of it. Maria Somerville’s record is quite high and I decided to include in TOP 10 a new critically acclaimed record by the producer who goes by the name of james K. This is also a show that I unfortunately had to miss, but in both cases I believe the artists have long career ahead of them, and they will probably return to Warsaw, hopefully for solo shows.

9 NATION OF LANGUAGE - DANCE CALLED MEMORY

I’m a huge fan of this trio, anthemic, melodic, borrowing a lot of influences from both 80s titans and underlooked bands (judging by their cover selection). Their new album is their best yet. I’m really hoping we will see them in Poland next year (preferably in Warsaw, but I also can’t understand why they haven’t played at Off Festival yet. However, I don’t know why, there’s something about Off Festival that really moves away from the artists that I’m listening to).

8 PULP - MORE

Surprise! A new Pulp album, sounding really good. As it was to be expected, considering Jarvis Cocker’s solo music (and his other project, JARV IS, I hope it will return) remains constantly fresh and inspiring. One of the few records topping the year-end charts of the big blogs that actually deserve it. The other is at #6...

6 ROSALIA - LUX

My first contact with BERGHAIN was a music video. So I was even more shocked than those who ONLY heard the song itself. I don’t think anyone has expected this classical-electronic-pop mixture. I didn’t, I actually didn’t like Motomami album, present in our chart, but very low. I was wondering if Rosalia will become yet another electro-pop star. She didn’t. I love the flamenco sound of Los Angeles, El Mal Querer was the record that introduced her to me, but it’s Lux that now has her best result in the history of this chart.

5 PENELOPE TRAPPES - A REQUIEM

Penelope Trappes never fails me. And every record of her just keeps on getting better. This is the second of these twenty that I first heard during the Bandcamp event. It’s still a great memory.

4 SAUL WILLIAMS - MEETS CARLOS NINO & FRIENDS AT TREEPEOPLE

I don’t have to tell you that 2025 was a difficult year, politically speaking. Just follow my Bluesky account, I’m talking about the Trump administation latest „achievements” on there, almost daily. My favourite kinda-political record this year was a new album by Saul Williams, revelatory poet joined in a live event by Carlos Nino, Kamasi Washington and the poet aja monet, among others.

3 SHARON VAN ETTEN & THE ATTACHMENT THEORY - THE ATTACHMENT THEORY

This time, Sharon Van Etten is backed by a band, called The Attachment Theory. The songwriting is still sharp, and the record is one of the best in her discography. For a while, I thought it would be our Album Of The Year, and while it was eventually beaten by soul records (showing my taste preference here), she will probably achieve this result in the future.

2 SAY SHE SHE - CUT & REWIND

It was a sudden thought - „why can’t I put them in Top 3?”. Every album of theirs was in Top 20. This one is a particular revelation, joyous, uplifting, yet at the same time, thought-provoking and lyrically intriguing. I also recently found out that Say She She, whom I consider a trio, are actually backed live by the legendary band Orgone. So hopefully, they will find their way to Poland soon enough.

1 JOY CROOKES - JUNIPER

Skin was #3. So Juniper being even higher was quite expected, actually. Especially with the series of excellent singles. I remember my first listen, but the second is even more cherished memory. It was in the park, the last day of warm weather, I took a book with me and put Juniper on. It was just beautiful. Just like with some of the other artists that I mentioned, her Warsaw venue show can’t come fast enough, but I’m really afraid she’d land at some festival (like Olivia).
