Bandcamp fundraiser for artists - 20 III / 1 V 2020

Right now, we are living in strange times. Musicians are particularly struggling, due to tour cancellations - as you may know from David Byrne’s How Music Works touring is in fact the most important profit factor for the artists. This week, Bandcamp decided to help and launched a special fundraiser. Usually revenue on Bandcamp is 15% for digital music (MP3/FLAC), 10% for merch. We love Bandcamp and always share a link to the profile if there's one.

On Friday (Pacific time), for 24 hours, 100% of the profit from music and merch will be forwarded to the artists. Every penny counts! „For many artists, a single day of boosted sales can mean the difference between being able to pay rent or not. Still, we consider this just a starting point. Musicians will continue to feel the effects of lost touring income for many months to come, so we’re also sharing some ideas below on how fans can support the artists they love and how artists can give fans new, creative ways to provide support.” Ethan Diamond (Bandcamp CEO)

Unfortunately, I cannot really donate money right now, but if you can – here’s a reminder of some of our favorite artists. Please join us in donating and spreading the word! Check out if your favorite artists have Bandcamp pages. If so, it’s really great time to help them financially!

PS Some labels extended that period – among them: Hyperdub and Polyvinyl https://pitchfork.com/news/18-labels-directing-bandcamp-revenue-to-their-artists/

PS 2 I would never consider suspending this blog's work, but I am planning some special recommendation posts next while we all are quarantaining.
